We live in a day where we believe that if we are going to change the world the only thing available to us are the same tools and the same avenues that have been used for centuries in our culture – power, wealth, might, coercion and the list goes on. However, Paul speaks about the wisdom of God – in all of its dimensions – being the thing that we, the Church, are to put on display for all people in all places, so that we would make God known. But be careful, this kind of thing is not for the faint of heart. It asks us to live as a prophetic community.

We will reflect on what does it look like for us to be good grace economists – those who celebrate God’s inclusion of all people. Not by being those who get the recognition, but by being those who, like Paul, are willing to be in prison for the sake of the good news.

This will be a sermon of great encouragement. We will show a picture of the pillar of the Temple of Artemis – all that is left. And then show pictures of DCC’ers – who are the temple! We are given a sacred and beautiful chance to show God to others – in the mosaic of what was once our differences. Now, both Jew and Gentile, together are the temple!!

One new humanity … think about that? What would it look like if we actually embraced the peace of Christ and recognized that Jesus was willing to do anything to bring us together as one? Why not start right here and right now … transcending that which divides and holding onto to Jesus who brings all things together?

August 6th, 2017: We Are All Exiles - Michael Hidalgo

We will explore together the story of the Exodus from Egypt, recognizing Genesis is the backstory for the people of Israel and discover how the story of Jesus, as Moses the prophet, leads us into a New Exodus.

July 30th, 2017: From Atom to Adam - Mark Tidd

Division is nothing new – sad to say. And the division that existed between Jew and Gentile was real in the church of Ephesus. Paul reveals to them however that there need be no division because of the work of Christ. There is no them, there is only us. All the divisions no longer work. We will explore the Jewish thinking and the biblical narrative to show how the call for the Jews was always to be a conduit of God’s grace for all people – and that grace and reconciliation came through Jesus – and now has taken effect.
